Who

The plan is developed by a technology team under the leadership of staff, board, and, if appropriate, outside consultants. The Team's role is collect information, synthesize, discuss, identify strategies, write the plan, guide implementation, and evaluate the results. It is important to include a mix of expertise, both programmatic and technological. The technology team should have a leader and regular meetings with agendas, tasks and timelines.

Advice From Kit Participants

1. If you don't have enough board members or volunteers with technology expertise, go out and recruit them.

2.There is no subsitute for an executive director's involvement on the Tech Team.

3. There isn't a magic number of people who should be on the tech team, but it should be more than one person!

4. Clarify the Tech Team's role and tasks at the first meeting. Set up a timeline for the workflow.

5. Determine how you will manage the Tech Team's work. For example, decide if you need a facilitator for the meetings, or want to set up a listserv for ongoing communication between meetings.
